You will learn how to identify things that could affect the welfare of cattle during the process and be able to explore what you need to know to manage these risks effectively. The module will cover the whole process from preparation for stunning through to effective bleeding.




Preparation
This section will help you understand the necessary preparations for a safe and effective electrical stunning process. This preparation phase includes key activities such as handling cattle from the lairage to the stunning area and preparing the stun box.




Stunning
This section will help you understand the processes of restraint and stunning in order to achieve an effective stun and ensure optimal animal welfare. An effective stunning process will produce unconsciousness in the animal during which they cannot feel pain.




Bleeding
This section will help you understand the importance of using an effective bleeding process. It will provide information on how to check the animal during the bleeding period to ensure that death occurs while the animal remains unconscious from the stun.




Post Stunning
This section will help you understand the importance of checking the animal immediately after stunning and before bleeding to ensure they remain unconscious.
